Buy local - where you can

Just a quick post to encourage you to buy local ............ where you can.

With the recent publicity on the frozen berries fiasco, I have been prompted to really think about where the produce I am putting in my body is coming from.

Whilst I am not a big veggie eater, what I do eat, I like to know where it comes from.

I am sure you all have a local fresh produce market near you wherever you live - give it a try one day, you may be surprised.

I went out the other week to the local market near me - at Parafield.  It was a small set up, as it was the mid week one, but I thought it was just nice for me - I do so hate big crowds when I am trying to shop LOL

Anyway ............ I picked up some lovely lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mushrooms and some bananas & strawberries .... may I say, I was astounded at how beautiful the cucumber's were!  I don't think I have ever tasted cucumber like that before - it was crisp and almost sweet; it had so much flavour!

the tomatoes were so fresh, they lasted over a week in the fridge - the cucumber didn't last that long, because I ate every single bit of it ........... most unusual for me, as I usually have to throw things out

the strawberries lasted over a week too - there was not a single mushy/bad strawberry in the punnet!

So next time you need some fruit and veg, please think about supporting your local market - it makes a huge difference to your taste buds ........ and to your wallet!

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.
Remember, any day doing something you love makes it a good day ;-)

Doing what you like is freedom. Liking what you do is happiness.
