August Camera Club Competition (PACC)

August Camera Club competition results are as follows:

PACC Competition  subjects were Nature & Open

My best scores were:

Dusky Leaf Monkey - Scored 10 out of 10 - Distinction - 4th Place

Bye Bye Wang Wang - scored 9 out of 10 - Honour

I am particularly pleased with my 10 out of 10 - 4th Place in the Nature category.
One day, I hope to win the Nature Trophy ......

Dianne Davies Memorial Nature Trophy

Dianne Davies was a very popular and well-respected member of the Port Adelaide Camera Club from 2006 to 2016.

Dianne achieved many photographic accomplishments with the club, including winning the:

· Silver Club Trophy once;
· Gold Club Trophy 6 times;
· Nature Trophy 3 times;
· Photo of the Year Trophy in 2015; and
· Our Port Adelaide Trophy in 2016.

Dianne passed away in August 2016 after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

In 2017, the PACC Committee introduced a memorial trophy in her name. We are all that much richer for her enthusiastic and inspirational contribution.

Next PACC competition is 'Our Port Adelaide' another trophy subject, which I would love to win one day!

Feel free to visit the Port Adelaide Camera Club Facebook page to see all the winning images - there are some crackers in this collection!

Floral Friday - Magnificent Iris

Spring is in the air!

Went to the Adelaide Zoo this week - the animals were very quiet and most of the good ones (tigers & lions) stayed low sleeping or hidden.

So what's a girl supposed to do?

take photos of some of the gorgeous plants & flowers and the birds flying free!

I have been chomping at the bit whilst awaiting my results from the SAPF 2019 Annual Exhibition.

I am quite pleased to let you know that I have been awarded two Acceptances :)

This latter image is one that was taken way back in 2015, but I had never actually entered it in the SAPF Exhibition - I am so glad I did now :)

For my South Australian readers who may be interested, the SAPF 2019 Annual Exhibition will be on display at the Hamra Centre Gallery in Hilton, from Tuesday, 21st May to 2nd June, then will be moving into the Myer Centre in the City from 7th through to the 16th June. Entry is free.

The presentations of awards will be given out at the Opening Night, on Thursday 23rd May – doors open 5.30 pm for a 6 pm start.  Photographic works will be presented in prints as well as digital images which will be projected onto a big screen.

The Hamra Centre Gallery is located at 1 Brooker Terrace, Hilton.  Opening times are:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 10am to 6pm
Wednesday: 8am to 6pm
Thursday: 10am to 8pm
Saturday and Sunday: 1pm to 4pm
The Auditorium is wheelchair and pram friendly. There is also designated disability parking in the library carpark which is directly behind the Hamra Centre building.

Spring is here!

Yesterday, 1st September, was the first day of Spring for us here in the Southern Hemisphere

I spent the day at Adelaide Zoo with my friend Joy, but first here is a pic I snapped when I first got up :)

First Day of Spring

my camera club had a presentation on 'phone photography' and seeing the morning light, I was tempted to run outside and take a pic with my phone - it didn't quite come up as pretty as it looked in real life, but hey, thems the breaks!  They say the best camera to have is the one that is with you! :)

We went to Adelaide Zoo specifically to see the new baby Meerkats that were born recently :)

Baby Meerkats

Talk about cuteness overload!  oh, they were so gorgeous, and they proved to be very popular with the visitors - it took a while to get in to a good spot to take some photos.

RIP Karta

If you are a regular reader of my blog, then you would know I love going to the Adelaide Zoo and taking photos :)

Sadly, one of the loved animals at the Zoo has passed away - Karta, the 34 year old Sumatran Orangutan, has died just hours after delivering an infant that was believed to be stillborn.

How sad :(

Here is the last photo I took of Karta, on 3rd June 2016

Out and about with my camera

time to catch up with some more 116 in 2016 photos

Australasian Swamphen

Ready to unfurl

Gossamer Wings

My friend Joy and myself went on the Captain Proud River boat cruise - it was a lovely day - the weather was perfect, boat not too crowded, staff were attentive and helpful and all round, it was a very pleasurable experience.  We went for a walk the river bank and came across these pelicans have a bit of a rumble!  It certainly was most interesting to watch - it was like the other pelicans were standing guard so that nobody would interfere.

Fight - Fight - Fight!
