In October, MLPC held their annual exhibition with a display of each member's favourite photos.

These photographs were judged by two Judges, and a Top Image was selected from each Member.

There was a total of 88 images from 11 members on display at The Mawson Centre, Mawson Lakes.

The judges' chose the following image as their 'Top Image'

I confess, it is one of my faves too!   I love taking photos of birds; rainbow lorikeets in particular.

Weekend Reflections #537

Was playing with my new lensball recently (it was a cheapie and it seems to have a swirl in the middle .... some would call it a flaw, but I rather like it)

SAPF 2019 Annual Exhibition Results

I have been chomping at the bit whilst awaiting my results from the SAPF 2019 Annual Exhibition.

I am quite pleased to let you know that I have been awarded two Acceptances :)

Hollow Earth

deep in thought

This latter image is one that was taken way back in 2015, but I had never actually entered it in the SAPF Exhibition - I am so glad I did now :)

For my South Australian readers who may be interested, the SAPF 2019 Annual Exhibition will be on display at the Hamra Centre Gallery in Hilton, from Tuesday, 21st May to 2nd June, then will be moving into the Myer Centre in the City from 7th through to the 16th June. Entry is free.

The presentations of awards will be given out at the Opening Night, on Thursday 23rd May – doors open 5.30 pm for a 6 pm start.  Photographic works will be presented in prints as well as digital images which will be projected onto a big screen.

The Hamra Centre Gallery is located at 1 Brooker Terrace, Hilton.  Opening times are:
Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 10am to 6pm
Wednesday: 8am to 6pm
Thursday: 10am to 8pm
Saturday and Sunday: 1pm to 4pm
The Auditorium is wheelchair and pram friendly. There is also designated disability parking in the library carpark which is directly behind the Hamra Centre building.

The exhibition at the Myer Centre will be open to the public during normal shopping hours.

Be sure to get along to view this very special annual event.

My latest competition results

where is the time going?   I seem to have hit a bit of a photography slump :(

Any way .......

My camera club held the final monthly competition for the year in October.

The set subject was 'creative' and I entered a few images.

Framed

Celebrations

Hollow Earth
I must confess, I was most disappointed with the score & critique given for the above image 'Hollow Earth' by the judge.  This image was in the 'creative' category and his comment that 'the moon was too big' really hurt .... it was supposed to be big!  My concept was that the earth is in the moon's orbit - obviously I failed in portraying that concept.

Open Category
Modern Meditation

Cape Spencer Lighthouse

Pod of Pelicans

Through this year, I have been constantly amazed at some of the judges' comments on my images - sometimes pleasantly surprised, but other times I find myself wondering if I even have any real skill at all.

The Photograph of the Year competition is next Tuesday, I have 11 images entered, so stay tuned and I will share my results.
