Camera Club Results - MLPC

In October, MLPC held their annual exhibition with a display of each member's favourite photos.

These photographs were judged by two Judges, and a Top Image was selected from each Member.

There was a total of 88 images from 11 members on display at The Mawson Centre, Mawson Lakes.

The judges' chose the following image as their 'Top Image'

I confess, it is one of my faves too!   I love taking photos of birds; rainbow lorikeets in particular.

In November, MLPC held their final competition of the year.

Here are my best results for that one.

August Camera Club Competition Results

There was only one competition for PACC this month.

PACC - Architecture & Open

Clockwise:  Sunset Stroll (9), Largs Bay Sunset (7), Angles & Curves (9), SAHMRI Foyer (9)

Another example of two different judges giving the same image a markedly different score - Sunset Stroll received a 6 at MLPC (which is a low score), whereas at PACC, it received a 9 and placed First!

May Camera Club Competition Photos

Here are my photos for the May 2023 competition at PACC - Subject:  Doors/Windows/Fences & Open

Thanks to my BFF Joy, we went for a bit of a photo walk around Port Adelaide for the 'doors & windows'.

Reasonably pleased with my results with a 9 out of 10 for my 'Green Door' image (bottom right).

Here are my photos for the May 2023 competition at MLPC - Subject:  Literature, Transport & Open

Quite pleased with my results with a 9 out of 10 for my 'Good Parking Spot?' image (Top Row - 2nd from left).

March Camera Club Competition Photos

Both my camera clubs, MLPC & PACC had competitions in March.

MLPC subjects were Generations, Minimalist & Open
PACC subjects were Monochrome & Open

My best images for MLPC were:

Instagram Worthy - Scored 10 out of 10
Tik Tok in the Mall - Scored 10 out of 10

It's all about the Curves - Scored 9 out of 10

Colourful Visitor - Scored 10 out of 10

My images for PACC Competition did not do so well this month  :( only getting 6's & 7's

Early Morning Fishermen - Scored 7 out of 10 - Mono

Instagram Worthy - Scored 6 out of 10 - Open

Light & Shadow - Scored 7 out of 10 - Mono

Red Bottle Brush Bloom - Scored 6 out of 10 - Open

I was very disappointed with my scores from this PACC Competition.  It just goes to show that two different Judges can view the same image and have very different opinions!

Now to prepare for April Competition for PACC which will be Nature + Open.

Photo Projects update

I am still working on the Photo Projects for 2022 ..... enthusiasm is a bit low at the moment, but I will see the year out.

We had a bit of a 'bokeh' workshop at my Mawson Lakes Photography Club where we had a bit of fun with lights.  One of the other members brought in these gorgeous Christmas ornaments for us to photograph.

It was a great night at the club - another night where the time just disappeared into the blink of an eye.

I think I will have to have a go at home and see what I can come up with.

Now into my garden.

The Callistemon/Bottle Brush plant by my front window is blooming .... it seemed to burst into colour overnight.

That's it from me for now .... see you again soon!

All things considered ......

... it has been a very interesting year for my photography - with both my camera clubs ceasing face to face meetings and club outings for a while due to Covid-19.

Both clubs used Zoom to conduct meetings and competitions, but it wasn't quite the same, and I was surprised at how much I missed the face to face meetings.  Although, I did enjoy sitting back with a glass of wine enjoying the judging of the competitions LOL

I am happy to say that the year has ended on a high note with the MLPC 8th Annual Exhibition 2020

My image 'Jelly Bean' has won Top Open Category and Top Image Overall ..... what a wonderful surprise for me, and such an amazing way to end the competition year!

MLPC resumed face to face meetings for a few months, within Covid-19 Guidelines of course, but the our last meeting was cancelled as we were put back in lockdown for a while.  Restrictions eased, and a few of us we were able to get together for a meal to celebrate our year .... such that it was!

My other club, PACC, ceased face to face meetings in our hall in March.  At the end of October, as travel restrictions were eased, we spent a few days in Robe - it was so nice to getaway and take photos.  I had never been to Robe before; it had been on my 'wish list' for such a long time.  PACC also had a 'social' catchup in our club-rooms on the 4th November and we are meeting up on 15th December for our end of year presentations - Covid-19 permitting ofcourse!
