Recipe Review - Cinnamon Tea Cake

I was in the mood for some baking last week - Mr Fixit wanted some more cake for 'the boys at work' who were doing another stint of overtime.

I had bought myself a new loaf tin recently and came across this recipe on Best Recipes and decided it would be perfect to christen my new tin.

Cinnamon Tea Cake

This was a lovely cake - it took a little longer to cook than the recipe indicated, but I used a loaf tin and I am still getting used to my new oven.   Recipe for Cinnamon Tea Cake can be found HERE

It must not have been too bad LOL .... as Mr Fixit came home with only 1 piece left and he had to rescue that one for himself ;-)  Oh, and the boys have decided they will no longer work during the week, only on weekends because then they get cake :)

It has been requested for his birthday cake next week - along with Jazz's Triple Choc Brownies from Challenge #8 of the Cooks Club  see full Challenge #8 HERE

Must be off, my labour saving device (washing machine) is calling me ;-)

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

Tryout Tuesday - Double Choc Brownies

For Tryout Tuesday this week, I 'tried out' my new oven and a new baking tray.

Mr Fixit has been working long hours this last few weeks - so much so that management have approved some overtime ;-)

As a reward for 'the guys' I made a batch of Jazz's Triple Choc Brownies from CCC - but they are actually Double Choc Brownies, as I didn't have any dark chocolate :(

Double Choc Brownies

The link to the original recipe is HERE -  oops, the Taste forum is down at the moment and the link does not appear to be working - will update with link as soon as I can.

I typed up the recipe back when I made it, so here it is

Jazzie’s Triple Choc Brownies - these really are the BEST!

185g (6 oz) butter
185g (6 oz) dark chocolate, chopped
3 eggs
1 1/4 cups caster sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
2/3 cup plain flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
¾ cup white chocolate chips or roughly chopped
¾ cup milk chocolate chips or roughly chopped

Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Place butter and dark chocolate in a metal bowl over a pot of simmering water and stir until smooth.
Allow to cool. Place the eggs and sugar in a bowl and beat with an electric mixer (or wire whisk) until light and creamy. Add vanilla. Fold through chocolate and butter mixture. Sift the flour and cocoa over the mixture and mix to combine.
Add white and milk chocolate and pour into a 23 cm (9 inch) square pan that has been lined with cooking paper and sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake for 35-40 mins or until set. Check with a knife. Allow to cool and then cut into squares.

Tryout Tuesday.....

yeah, I know it is a little late  ;-)

I tried out a recipe from Best Recipes Chicken and Mushroom Pasta

Chicken & Mushroom Pasta
This was a really quick and easy dish to make - ofcourse, I made it without garlic, but it was still very tasty without it - I think all the lovely bits from the bacon and mushrooms make it ;-)

Zumbo Brownies

I wanted something quick and easy make up in order to surprise Mr Fixit who was already on his way home - Adriano Zumbo's Brownies to the rescue ;-)

Zumbo Brownie

We celebrated our 31st Wedding Anniversary yesterday, and today is Valentine's Day, so it was a good opportunity to put Tryout Tuesday into practice.

Whilst this is NO replacement for my preferred brownies - Jazzies Triple Choc Brownies - it is certainly an acceptable emergency replacement  ;-)

Tryout Tuesday - Egg and Noodle Pie

It's been a bit hot here this last few days, and even hotter weather is predicted for the next few days

When it is this hot, I really don't feel like faffing about in the kitchen for too long.

I spied this little recipe on Best Recipes and since Mr Fixit is still on easy to chew foods from a tooth extraction and an ear infection, I thought it might fit the bill!  It also fits in with Tryout Tuesday ;-)

Egg and Noodle Pie -  recipe HERE

Egg & Noodle Pie
This is a great easy to make throw together meal - I used the Low Fat Chicken 2 Minute Noodles and next time I think I will add some bacon and a bit of onion ;-)

This is also part of 113 Pictures in 2013 - #96 A shot taken in your kitchen

My first ever Rice Salad

We had a lovely Christmas Day yesterday with family from Mr Fixit's side.

I volunteered to bring a salad and the host requested a rice salad.

I searched and searched for a salad recipe that did not have capsicum in it - so that I could eat it too ;-)

I found a lovely recipe on Best Recipes and this is out it turned out
My first Rice Salad
Since Christmas Day was a Tuesday, this fits in nicely with my Tryout Tuesday theme ;-)

Tryout Tuesday - Pizza

We have been experimenting with making our own pizzas - with not a lot of success ;-(

I tried something different last week and think we may be on a winner ;-)

Please forgive the REALLY BAD photo - I was eager to eat ;-)

Tryout Tuesday

With Christmas preparations, Tryout Tuesday was a little late ;-)

I have always wanted to make the Mars Bar slice and I have tasted several different versions.  I am happy to say I like this one the best ;-)

Recipe is HERE

The bowl is something I made whilst doing ceramics - I love bringing it out each year ;-)

Tryout Tuesday

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Well, Tryout Tuesday came around far too quickly for me this month ;-)

I have been busy with Wedding Cards, custom Birthday Invites and a custom birthday card this month, so Tryout Tuesday ended up on a Thursday ;-)

I had a craving for Choc Chip Cookies and wanted to try THIS recipe from http://www.taste.com.au/

It was very easy to mix up and I can see the basic mix being used in other combinations in the future ;-)

Somehow, I don't think these cookies will last very long - I have already had 4 as part of the stringent testing process ;-)  and will have another 2 with a cup of coffee a bit later this afternoon.
