Recipe Review - Cinnamon Tea Cake

I was in the mood for some baking last week - Mr Fixit wanted some more cake for 'the boys at work' who were doing another stint of overtime.

I had bought myself a new loaf tin recently and came across this recipe on Best Recipes and decided it would be perfect to christen my new tin.

Cinnamon Tea Cake

This was a lovely cake - it took a little longer to cook than the recipe indicated, but I used a loaf tin and I am still getting used to my new oven.   Recipe for Cinnamon Tea Cake can be found HERE

It must not have been too bad LOL .... as Mr Fixit came home with only 1 piece left and he had to rescue that one for himself ;-)  Oh, and the boys have decided they will no longer work during the week, only on weekends because then they get cake :)

It has been requested for his birthday cake next week - along with Jazz's Triple Choc Brownies from Challenge #8 of the Cooks Club  see full Challenge #8 HERE

Must be off, my labour saving device (washing machine) is calling me ;-)

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

Lots of Photo Opportunities this Weekend ;-)

Boy, I have had a very busy few days!

On Saturday, it was my Great Nephew's 2nd Birthday and we had a family BBQ

To satisfy my baking urge, I made up some Mars Bar Slice to take - it was a real hit and I have been asked to bring some more for Zoe's 1st Birthday next month ;-)

Gorgeous little cupcakes ;-)

On Sunday, I had a photo outing with the Port Adelaide Camera Club to Adelaide Botanic Gardens
We had a nice early start of 9.30 am
see group photo HERE

I took heaps of photos, and am only showing a select few here

the cakes for my birthday & not closing this blog ;-)

These are the cakes I got from The Cake Charmer (Leanne).  We had 12 white choc & 12 dark choc mud cake - they were all yummy.   My personal favourite was the white choc mud cake.  Although the little pearl things were very pretty, I don't think I would put them on a cake again, as they were also very crunchy - my Dad thought he had chipped a tooth.

I would most definitely use The Cake Charmer's services again.

I have also decided to keep this blog open.

On the hunt for a clear 3 tier cake stand

I am preparing for my 50th birthday party ;-)

I need a cake stand to display some cupcakes - I saw them in Cheap As Chips a while back ...... I know, I hear you saying 'you should have got them then!'  I know, I know ..... ;-)

I have already tried the two CAC's that are near me, but they have none.  I am off to TTP & spotlight tomorrow - Any other suggestions would be great !

Cook's Club Challenge 7

in Challenge_7 I tried all three recipes
The Butter Chicken has to be my all time favourite - I make it up just for myself, with some rice, and divide and freeze in single portions.
Unfortunately, even given the number of times I have made it, I usually forget to take a photo.
Next success was the cake - very nice. Hubby liked it a lot and took some to work the next day.
My next project was to make up a pizza from scratch - not bad. I did not make up the dough, but bought some premixed dough and used that. The pizzas were OK and a bit of fun to make up with friends, but I think I will leave the pizza making to the professionals LOL
All in all, I am enjoying my Cook's Club Challenges very much.
stay tuned for the next installment.
